I am an artist working in porcelain and other fireable materials to create sculpture, works at the intersection of art and function, and I bring clay into public engagement.
My work combines my interest in the elemental forces of nature, from the cosmic to the microscopic, with investigations of materials and processes. From gravity, fluid dynamics and electromagnetic forces to the intellect of birds and the molecular cooperation between trees and fungi, the laws of the universe insistently inform my practice. These laws are constantly proving that we humans have no control; my work is created in partnership with this unpredictability.
