POP-UP POTTERY FAQS AND TERMS

About Pop-Up Pottery sessions

  • Working with clay is easier with short fingernails and without rings.
  • All materials and firings are covered in the session fee.
  • Work will be dried and then fired, first to biscuit ware. Then I will glaze it for you and fire it again. At that point it is finished and you will be advised it is ready for collection by arrangement from Frances Ross Studio. This process can take 4-6 weeks from the date of the session.
  • Things made at Pop-Up Pottery can be posted to you, and I will protectively wrap your piece to the best of my ability, but I'm not responsible for the Royal Mail's handling. Postage costs are additional to the cost of the workshop and must be paid prior to dispatch.
  • All sessions are suitable for beginners, but you are, of course, welcome to work to a more advanced level and to bring your own ideas if you already have the skills!
  • The ceramic process can be unpredictable. I handle all work with great care, but on very rare occasions things crack or break under the stress of the kiln’s heat, and I cannot guarantee that all work will survive the ceramic processes or the firings fully intact.

About FAMILY SESSIONS

These points only apply to workshops designated as family sessions. Most of my sessions are adults only.

  • Children over 8 years old normally have the capability to work alone on these projects, but please use your knowledge of the child’s capabilities when booking.
  • Children 5-8 years old will most likely need some help from an adult. If you’re going to work with an under-8 year old, please book one place to cover you and the child. This will cover for the child’s work to be glazed and fired. The fee does not cover for you both to make work and have it glazed and fired.
  • All under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • The accompanying adult will have full responsibility for their child/children at all times. Therefore please stay in the room with your child, even if you’re not participating in the class.

Cancellations and refunds

I know sometimes life gets in the way of plans. I will do my best to reschedule or refund if you give me enough notice. But please bear in mind that I do preparation work in advance of every workshop, and may have bought in supplies specifically for your event. Therefore I reserve the right to apply the following terms:

  • Cancellations received 7 days or more before the session date will receive a full refund.
  • Cancellations with 7 days or less before the session date may not be rescheduled or refunded.
  • Non-attendance of sessions will not be refunded or substituted.
  • If it is necessary for me to cancel a session due to circumstances beyond my control, I will issue a full refund of the event fee paid.

Please give me feedback!

I want everyone to enjoy their making sessions with me. If there's anything at all you want to tell me about your experience,  please get in touch. All constructive criticism, ideas and thoughts welcome!
