Green Man and Garden Guardians
Two days in my studio, creating a hanging green man or guardian face. This is ideal if you've enjoyed one of my short workshops and would like to have time to work on a piece for longer and in more detail.
I'll demonstrate the techniques needed for you to make your head. You will, with guidance, design the piece that you want to make and combine the techniques demonstrated to make the form from stoneware clay. We will use slab rolled clay to create the head structure shape, and will hand model foliage, flowers and other additions.
Plus, you can choose to come back to the studio to glaze the piece yourself, or I will glaze it for you. This is included in the fee.
All expert tution, materials and firings are included.
This is a two-day session held in my studio in Sorbie, so each class will be a maximum of four students. It is suitable for adults.
The approximate timetable will be - plus tea/coffee breaks:
Day one
9.30-12.30 Discussing design, slab rolling clay, making the face structure and features
12.30-1.15 Lunch break
1.15-4.00 Modelling foliage and decor
Day two
9.30-12.30 Adding foliage and decor to face
12.30-1.15 Lunch break
1.15-4.00 Colouring with underglazes
